Devotions Day 3: Isaiah 55

  1. Below I posted the verses that seem really relevant to me. Our deeds of medical, dental, vbs, etc are the rain that God uses to water the Haitian's earth and as a result of us being used to work and to serve beyond our comfort zones. Even though we are to give of ourselves I can guarantee that God will use the gifts you have to bring glory to Himself and as a result you will feel more blessed than you can imagine. I believe this is how God uses verse 11 and how it will not return empty. He promises that what we do will return with abundance and will accomplish what His purposes are. He loves the Haitian people and you will see that their joy will be and is contageous. For those who are nervous because of safety issues He would not have put it in your heart to go if it was not consistent with His Purpose and what He wants to accomplish.

Isa 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isa 55:10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
Isa 55:11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

  2. Thanks for your insights, Robert. Every time I read this passage, something else pops out at me. This morning it is Isaiah 55:5 "Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, and a nation which knows you not will run to you, because of the Lord your God, even the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you." Perhaps for us today, this nation we do not know is Haiti. Looking forward to ministering to God's people and working together with new friends in Christ.
