"As the body without the Spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead." James 2:26

Devotions Day 13: Romans 8
This is the young Haitian girl, Judelène, that my high school French students supported for almost 10 years through Compassion International. This photo was taken when I met her in 2005 in Haiti. It reminds me of Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." This relationship with Judelène was a blessing to us.

Devotions Day 5: Philippians Ch 4
This chapter is loaded with wisdom. My favorite is, "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 Whatever "teams" we're paired with, I pray he gives us the strength and wisdom to spread His love, His message and His healing.

Frantzie Beauduy
I was born in Les Cayes, Haiti ; I immigrated to the United States in 1967. My family moved to Chicago, IL where I lived for 26 years, then I moved to Detroit in 1987 after my divorce. I have two adult children who reside in the Detroit metro area and on January 8th this year the Lord blessed me with a granddaughter. I work fulltime as a Healthcare IT consultant and I travel every week. I attend Grace Church in Detroit when I am a member.
I am a native of Haiti but had not returned home prior to the earthquake. Since then I have been to Haiti every year either alone or with a Church Team. When I don’t go with a team I visit my old church in Les Cayes, where I visit the kids that I support.
I like what God is doing in my life, he has called me to serve all people. Les Cayes is located in the South and I have been in Northern Haiti to serve and now to Ounaminthe. This is awesome. My pray is that I remain in His presence.

Devotions Day 2: John 6
In John Chapter 6, Jesus has fed the multitudes and walked on water. He is the bread of life. How do we relate this to our trip to Haiti? Do you see Ouänaminthe up in the mountains near the Dominican Republic? Click on the map to make it larger.
Sue Mutter
I grew up in the Chicago area and moved to MI in 1986. I'm a musician, and teach horn and piano lessons for a living, and my three children, Maria, Paul and Liz are grown (2 in college and 1 working). I was married for 25 years and my husband unexpectedly left me (divorce), so I have been on my own this past year. Heart-wrenching, yes, but God has blessed me in an incredible way, and I am very fulfilled! Last year was my first time to Haiti, and the experience was life-changing. How amazing it was to have running water, hot or cold, right at my finger tips, and a comfortable, safe home, and a yard with growing green grass - have never had such an appreciation before of all the daily blessings that surround me. Looking forward to joining the team, seeing what God will do through us, and seeing our Haitian friends, once again, as well.

Day 1 of Devotions Matthew Ch 5-7
In Day One of our devotionals, we were asked to read Matthew Chapters 5-7. Are you journaling about your devotions? Did anything come to mind reading these three chapters?
Mountains Beyond Mountains
One of the best books to read about Haitian culture is Mountains Beyond Mountains. It's about Dr Paul Farmer's life in Haiti and his vision for transforming the world. I've read it twice and listened to it once. Both the book and the audio version are available at your local libraries. It would be helpful to read before the trip takes place. You can learn a ton from this informative book.

Haiti Medical Mission 2nd meeting
A group of committed Christians from Trinity/Shepherd's Gate/Faith Lutheran Churches and beyond are going on a medical mission to Haiti March 17-24, 2013. The purpose of this blog is to disseminate and retrieve information, help family members and loved ones to stay up-to-date with what is going on, post thoughts and questions about our 60 days of devotions as well as for each of us to get to know one another a little bit before the trip takes place.
These were some of the people in attendance at our last meeting on Sunday, January 6. I don't know very many by name yet, but I'm Suzie Martin, bottom row middle with the orange scarf. I attend Shepherd's Gate and have taught high school French for many years and led many students to France with family stays and have gone on a mission trip to Tanzania, Africa and one to Haiti through Compassion International in 2005. I'm fluent in French and can converse in Spanish. I'm married to Victor and we have 4 adult children. My life verse is 1 Peter 3:15....Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. I love photography, cooking, reading, computers, music, hiking, movies and adventures. Living a life for Jesus is the greatest adventure we can pursue!
Please bookmark this web address. What to do now? You can make comments on the blog, ask questions, write about what you are feeling as you do your devotionals, etc. If you email me your photo (or ID yourself in the above composite) and send me a short bio about yourself, I'll post it so that we can get to know you. Ke bon dye beni ou (may God bless you....in Haitian kreyol).
